TYPICAL SCOPES FOR VARIOUS PROJECT WORK

    Defining required scope is major and essential step for any project, it requires basic understanding of structures used in project work. Here are some typical scopes given in brief for various projects/sub-projects, which can help in framing Estimates of projects which can fulfill most of the aspects of structures such as Aesthetically appealing, Environment friendly, Durable etc.

Scope for Bridge Work

1) Type of Foundation:-

Open foundation. Foundation will be rest on hard rock strata and anchored in hard rock for minimum 0.6 m depth. CC M-25 as levelling course (0.30 cm thick). Annular filling in CC M-10 around piers & abutment.


2) Abutment & Return :-

PCC M-25 grade solid abutment & return


3) Abutment cap :-

RCC M-30 grade solid abutment cap 


4) Superstructure :-

RCC M-30 grade 4 girder, diaphragm, decking super structure supporting deck slab.


5) Pier :- 

PCC M-25 grade solid pier


6) Pier cap:-

RCC M-30 grade solid pier cap


7) Type of bearing :- 

Neoprene pad bearing 


8) Deck Slab:-

RCC M-30 grade deck slab


9) Footpath of bridge :- 

For 2 m width with precast RCC M-30 slabs & ultra tiles flooring for new footpath, existing footpath & divider etc.


10) Wearing coat :- 

RCC M-30 grade wearing coat for 8 cm thickness.


11) Expansion joint :-

MS plate type expansion joint


12) Steel reinforcement :- 

MS/HYSD OR TMT bar reinforcement


13) Diversion Road :- 

Without Existing bridge --> Embankment construction in river section parallel to bridge site with CD work to allow flow of water

With Existing bridge --> Minor repairs to existing approaches and existing bridge if any.


14) Filling behind abutment:- 

Rubble & hard murum filling behind abutment. 90 cm thick flexible stone mat between the return.


15) Misc. Items :- 

RCC M-30 curb on both side & for footpath. Railing for desired length consisting of I/channel post & 65 mm dia.GI Pipes, RCC parapet in etc.


Scope of Approaches of Bridge


16) Material for construction:- 

Murum Sand/ Excavated stuff other than soil/dismantled stuff etc. well watered compacted with vibratory roller in 15 to 20 cm layers,


17) Sub-Base:- 

GSB/ Hard murum blanketing for 15 cm compacted thickness


18) Base :- 

a) WBM using 80mm metal 30 cm compacted thickness in 2 layers. 

b) WBM using 40mm metal 15cm compacted thickness in 2 layers.

c) BBM for 75mm thickness. 


19) Wearing course:-

a) HMHL B.M. (4% bitumen) for minimum 75mm thickness using 30/40 grade bitumen with sensor paver and compaction with vibratory roller. 

b) 20mm tick HMHL bituminous carpet using CRMB 55 grade bitumen & with premix seal coat (type B) using 60/70 grade bitumen with paver. 


20) Dismantling structure :- 

Dismantling existing structure if any.


Scope for Strengthening and Black topping of road.


1) Wearing Course :- 

a) Pot holes & sink filling, camber etc. correction with BUSG/ Premix asphalt for rectification/ correction to existing wearing surface.

b) Hot mix hot laid bituminous macadam (4%) for minimum 75mm thickness using 30/40 grade bitumen for mixing and 60/70 grade bitumen for tack coat @ 5 kg. Sqm.) with sensor paver and compacted with vibratory roller to requisite density (Quantity 5600 Cum) on existing black topped surface.

c) 20mm thick open graded HMHL premix bituminous carpet using CRMB 55 grade of bitumen for mixing and 60/70 grade of bitumen for tack coat @ 5 Kg/ Sqm. (Area 75000 Sqm.)

d) Premix seal coat (Type B) with paver using 0.009 Cum of metal & 0.0012 Mt. bitumen (60/70 grade) per Sqm. (Area 75000 Sqm.)


2) Levelling Course:-

BUSG of 75mm thick for strengthening bad stretches of road using 60/70 grade bitumen (for 29000 Sqm. area)


Scope for Widening of Carriageway

1) Widening Embankment:-

Using mostly excavated stuff. conveyed & layed in layers, watered & compacted to required sections. Disposing of excess stuff as directed. 


2) Sub-Base course:-

GSB/ Hard murum blanketing for 15cm compacted thickness, well compacted with vibratory roller. 


3) Base Course:-

a) WBM using 80mm metal for 15cm compacted thickness & compacted with vibratory roller. 

b) WBM using 40mm metal for 15 cm compacted thickness in two coats & compacted with vibratory roller.

c) BBM for 75mm thick using 60/70 grade bitumen.


4) Wearing course:-

a) HMHL 20mm thick open graded bituminous carpet using CRMB 55 grade of bitumen for mixing & 60/70 grade of bitumen for tack coat (@5kg/Sqm.)

b) Premix seal coat (Type B) with paver using 0.009 Cum of metal & 0.0012 Mt. bitumen (60/70 grade) per Sqm, area.



Scope of Median


1) Type of concrete :- 

Precast M-20 grade cement concrete blocks of size 30 x 10 x 80 cm (on both sides)


2) Filling in Median:-

a) Selected river soil, sand & PCC at bottom, drain pipes etc.

b) Filling with sand, 80mm soling (15cm), PCC M-10 (15cm) & finished at top with coloured ultra tiles flooring



Scope of Drainage Arrangement

Pacca Drain

1) Foundation :-

a) Soling using 80mm metal for 30cm thickness

b) PCC M-10 for 20cm thickness 


2) Face wall :- 

PCC M-10 with weep holes


3) Excavated surface drain :- 

Excavated surface drain to prescribed sections shall be provided wherever necessary for the effective drainage of water.


4) Sub-surface drain:- 

Sub-surface drainage as approved by Engineer shall be provided wherever necessary.


5) C.D. Works:- 

C.D. Works.consisting of hume pipe (NP-3) of adequate diameters and face wall shall be provided wherever necessary for effective drainage of water.


Scope of footpath of Road

1) Face/ Curb wall :- 

Precast M-20 cement concrete block of size 50 x 10 x 65 cm on both sides. (cross section attached) or as directed by Engineer)


2) Flooring :-

Precast factory made coloured ultra tiles of approved quality.


3) Filling : - 

Sand filling of about 15cm thick, 80mm soling 15cm thick, PCC M-10 levelling course 10cm thick.


4) Surface drain :-  

CC M-20 grade concrete laid to slope with sand filling. 80mm soling (15cm). PCC M-10 levelling course for 15cm thickness.



Scope of Street Light


1) Street lights & poles:- 

Street lights with 250 watts metal hallied fittings with dynamic power saving device erected on tubular pole's swaged type for single swan neck 20 Nos and double swan neck 120 Nos. M.S. tubular swage pole shall be of 165.1 x 139.7 x 114.3mm dia with 5.4, 4.5, 3.65mm thickness respectably. Height of the pole shall be minimum 11.00 m and with base plate and earthing stud. Foundation for poles shall be 1.8m deep and in CC M-15 grade concrete.


2) Cables :- 

The alluminium 4 core 16 Sq.mm. (about 6000 Rmt.) and 3.5 core 25 Sq.mm. (about 150 Rmt.) armoured cable with Gl earth wire.


3) Pipe/ Conduits :- 

Gl pipes A class of 40 mm diameter (about 50 Rmt.) 50mm dia. (about 500m), RCC hume 150 mm dia.(about 600 Rmt.) Gl pipe B class 50mm dia. (about 100 Rmt) & DWC pipe 90mm dia. (about 3600 Rmt), for enclosing armoured cables.


4) Junction box :- 

C.I. terminal boxes (minimum 20Nos.) with miniature circuit breakers (minimum 120Nos.) with required wires. 


5) Control panel :- 

Automatic switching panels (6Nos.) timer, contractors, ELCB, Main switch, indicators, providing earth wires, funnel type earthing and all the necessary arrangements. 


6) Other items :- 

All the necessary arrangements including MSEB connection. charges for connection & payment of energy bills etc.



Scope High Mast Posts

1) Poles & cables :- 

G. I. High mast poles 12.5 m long at 4 junctions and 16m long on junction and minimum 6Nos. 250 watt metal hallied fittings with dynamic power saving device with lamps. Pole shall be of Bajaj or of approved make. 


2) Foundation :- 

Foundation shall be 2m depth with RCC M-20 grade concrete and fixing with foundation bolts. 


3) Control panel:- 

Control panel shall be provided with timer, contactor ELCB, Main switch, earthing, indicators and copper Armoured cabal of size 4 x 10 sqmm including G.I.Pipe. 


4) Other items:- 

All the necessary arrangements including MSEB connection, chares for connection & payment of energy bills etc.



Scope for Rock Garden

1) Filling :- 

Filling with well mixed garden soil &manure (in 3:1 proportion) to required height with different level and slope.


2) Plantation & rocks :- 

Planting well established ornamental plants suitable for rock garden. Arranging rock pieces pebbles of different colour, size & shape in aesthetic manner.


3) Maintenance :- 

Maintaining well by watering, weeding, replacing casualties till end of concession period.



Scope for sign & Information Boards

1) Road marking & cat eyes:-

Road marking with thermo plastic materials as per IRC specification in required width and colour as white/ yellow for lane divider. pedestrian crossings, zebra crossings, curves, center line, speed breakers. transition marking, bridge/ C.D. work/ Road edge marking etc. fixing cat eyes at requisite intervals as per specifications. 


2) Sign & Information boards:-

All requisite cautionary & mandatory sign boards. root/ hazard marker with reflective symbols, road junction & information boards etc. as per IRC specification.


3) Information boards:-

Portals frames with information boards on both sides of portal as per detailed drawing shall be provided.
